Heal All is a small purple flowering plant in the mint family that grows like a ground cover. The first word in its Latin Name, Prunella, is derived from a German word for a throat issue that it was frequently used for. The second word, vulgaris, means ‘common’. Prunella is a common plant in many parts of the world and has been used for centuries throughout Europe and Asia, and by Native Americans, too.
Even though Prunella is in the mint family, it doesn’t smell or tastes like mint, but more like its cousin rosemary, with even more antioxidants than the herbs it is closely related to. It has actions like elderberry, astragalus root, and medicinal mushrooms, and works well with herbs like stinging nettle and lemon balm. In fact, it works well in combination with most other herbs!
